The most important window is used for editing flight orders. This window always stretches over two days so that the flights over midnight can be displayed entirely.
The left part of the window contains buttons marked with flight order numbers that designate the corresponding rows. Flights are represented in the form of rectangles containing flight number and airport codes. The code of the commander and the number of crew members are also displayed above each flight.
Objects can be selected with the mouse and moved in groups or individually. A click on the left side button brings up flight order dialog which enables the user to inspect or modify all properties of the corresponding order.
The planner can insert or modify all information on cabin and cockpit crew, reporting times, positioning times as well as any training to be performed on duty together with check codes and specification of trainees and their instructors.
The final flight order can be previewed or printed anytime in the form of Journey Log document.
The system keeps constant track of each crew member’s personal history and limitations in accordance with civil transportation flight regulations or any additional corporate or union regulations.
All these restrictions can be defined with special dialogs, describing duty period, block time limits, reporting time, split duty, standard and exceptional resting periods and specifications of days-off policy.
Resources view
All activities of flight staff can be monitored and maintained in another special graphic window that displays all their events throughout the season.
Crew members in this window can be organized into several groups that can quickly be reached using the bottom tabs.
A click on the side button brings up a window with several views on selected crew member’s future, present and past activities. These cumulative reports are displayed in the form of enhanced tables and graphs that enable quick and understandable insight on one’s personal history, important events, duty limits, statistical comparisons and addresses.
To be able to perform such functionalities the system has to be provided with a detailed description of each crew member’s status, rank, function, home base, address, license and many other data relevant for a successful planning process.
Standby view
Flight staff disposed as reserve crew members can be monitored and maintained in a special graphic window that displays all standby crew members throughout the season.
The left part of the window contains buttons marked with standby functions that designate the corresponding rows. Reserve duties are represented in the form of rectangles containing short crew member’s code. Various colors of these rectangles represent various reserve crew members’ functions. A mouse click on such object brings up the Edit dialog for corresponding member on standby duty. After the reserve duty was changed to actual duty as its member being called to perform a flight operation, the appearance of rectangle changes accordingly to reflect the change of its owner’s status.
Statistical Table view
More comprehensive analyses can be performed using a special statistical window that offers comparison between selected members or groups in the form of advanced spreadsheet combined with graphical presentation of several categories of data.
Reports
Many reports are produced and are available at all times during the process of planning: daily plan, personal plan and various check reports. All these reports can be obtained for current date, week or selected period of time.
Many of these reports are also available to crew members and can be accessed over the Kiosk terminals or the company intranet site.
After the plan is completed the planner can publish a new or updated plan on the intranet server. This is a simple and quick operation that involves only a target selection and confirmation button.
Online Confirmations
Any crew member that checks his/her plan on Kiosk or web site gets a special signal indicating the changes that have been introduced after his last visit and immediately confirms that he/she is acquainted with these changes. Crew planners have a complete overview on crew members with changes and their online confirmations. This is a tremendous improvement which completely eliminates the need of informing members individually using standard methods.
