Scheduler Commercial Flight Planning

SCHEDULER - Commercial Flight Planning

Scheduler - Commercial Flight Planning: Typical screen view

Daily Plan

The central window in this application is the Daily plan. It displays the last flight plan for a selected fleet configuration. The content of this window stretches throughout the flight season and can be scrolled continuously or accessed by other means of navigation - calendars, etc.

The left part of the window contains buttons marked with aircraft registrations that designate the corresponding rows. Flights are represented in the form of rectangles containing flight number and airport codes. The colors of the rectangles depend on the type of operation, for instance scheduled flights in blue color, charter in orange. The code of operation can also be displayed above each flight. Rectangles can sometimes change into various types of arrows thus clearly indicating different phases in the lifecycle of an operation.

All objects can be selected with the mouse and moved in groups or individually. This "drag and drop" editing is possible not only within one window but also from one window into another. A click on the object brings up Flight edit dialog, while a click on the left side button brings up a list of all flights displayed in the row.

Calendar

Navigating within main windows as well as synchronizing their contents is simplified with the help of the Calendar view.

This window also plays a valuable role in searching, editing and multiplication of flight operations using its target filter masks.

Every executed edit operation can be easily repeated over the selected time period on the mask that can be defined using selections in the Calendar window.

This simple tool offers the planer a possibility to create a typical week and then clone it throughout the season. The same goes for eventual updates and modifications - each individual action can be multiplied over the group of selected target objects.

Reports

Various reports can be produced any time during the planning process, such as daily plan and weekly plan. Both reports can be obtained for the current date, week or selected period of time and configured to show detailed data on single operations or summarized data displaying cumulative values.

Another special report is the Draft schedules report that presents the information on the planned schedule in the form of a timetable.

Error Checking

During all actions the system is constantly checking the regularity of operations and prompts the user with warning messages. A comprehensive check report can also be created to perform checking over a specified time period.

Weekly Plan

A special approach to schedules data can be achieved using the Weekly plan view. This view shows the plan for the specified aircraft on a selected day of the week from the beginning to the end of the season.

With a help of a simple toolbar tool it is easy to switch the display between various aircraft and the day-of-the-week selection.

Since this view displays all occurrences of the selected day-of-the-week throughout the season in a single window it can be used to observe the regularity of the planning pattern. In this way the resources that are still available to answer the customer's inquiries can be easily located and put to profitable use.
